SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Gonzaga women's rowing team won all three races against Seattle University this afternoon on Silver Lake. This is the first race of the weekend as GU will also host Washington State University tomorrow morning at the Johnson Family Boathouse.
In the first race of the day, GU had a significant lead during the race. The 5V8 boat raced Seattle's 2V8 crew and finished in a dominating time of 7:10.2 as the Redhawks finished in 7:47.33.
The second race of the day featured the Novice Four boats and Gonzaga won by another impressive margin of 10 seconds. GU crossed the finish line at 7:42.1 while Seattle finished at 7:52.
Gonzaga completed the sweep in the last race of the day by cruising by Seattle's 1V8 crew. The Bulldogs had their 4V8 boat compete and the team finished 12 seconds ahead of the Redhawks, 7:10.38.Â

LAST DUAL RACE VS SEATTLE - APRIL 2024
The Gonzaga women's rowing team swept Seattle University on its final home race at Silver Lake as all races ended with a Gonzaga boat in first place.
In the first race of the day, Gonzaga's IV Eight boat finished first with a time of 7:19.14, ahead of Seattle's 1V8 boat of 7:34.31. The Zags took command of the race from early on and maintained their lead throughout the entire race.
The second race of the day featured two GU boats including the A and B Four boats. The A Four crew took first place by a wide margin of 8:32.21, followed by the B Four crew of 8:48.75. Seattle's 1V4 finished in third, coming in at 9:11.61.
The Bulldogs also had lead the whole race in the third competition of the day as GU's V8 boat finished in 7:26.23, ahead of Seattle's 2V8 boat of 7:46.76.
The last race of the day was a competition between three Zag boats, composed of sophomores, juniors and seniors. The seniors finished first with a time of 6:49.35, with the sophomores right behind them at 6:57.13. The juniors took third with a time of 7:02.15.
