
Track: Zags Break Pair of Records at Inland Northwest Invitational

Alexis Knight (60m) and Greta Dani (300m) led the charge for Gonzaga on Saturday
SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga men's and women's track returned to The Podium on Saturday for the Inland Northwest Invitational, hosted by Whitworth. In an all-day affair on the oval, the Bulldogs came away with two new program records and six new entries into the program all-time top ten lists.
Alexis Knight led off for the Zags on Saturday in the 60-meter prelims, where she earned a semifinal-qualifying time of 8.02, breaking the program record of 8.09 previously held by Ellie Armbruster. Less than an hour later, Knight returned for the semifinal races and dipped below eight seconds for another program record 7.95. She becomes the first Zag to ever finish in under eight seconds.
In the women's mile, Willow Collins (First, 4:52.55) and Alexi Fogo (Third, 4:58.55) earned podium finishes to lead GU.
On the men's side in the mile, Hayden Roberts (4:13.11) and Brenden Charbeneau (4:14.32) finished in first and second place, each recording PRs.
In the women's 300-meters, Greta Dani and Presley Smith each finished faster than the previous Gonzaga record. Dani finished in 43.10 and Smith finished in 43.33 to best an 11-year-old record set by Jordan McCann (43.80) in 2014.
In the women's 400-meters, Armbruster placed second overall in 57.64. Emma Larson cracked the top ten at seventh, finishing in 1:00.56 to improve her spot at No. 3 all time in program history. Ashlinn Aguayo placed ninth in 1:01.27, reentering the top ten at No. 5 all time.
Anna Grabowski won the women's 800-meters with a new PR time of 2:13.12, moving herself up to No. 5 all-time at Gonzaga. Collins placed second in 2:15.05, Tate Beasley placed fourth in 2:16.64, Anna Lanigan placed sixth in 2:17.87, and Sadie Tuckwood placed eighth in 2:18.60 to round out the Zags who placed in the top ten in the 800m on Saturday.
Tommy O'Neil (1:54.26) finished fourth in the men's 800-meters, followed closely by Hayden Roberts (1:54.88) in fifth.

Gonzaga is back in action Feb. 6-8 at the Riverfront Invitational & Multis, hosted by Spokane Sports. They will then wrap the regular indoor season Feb. 14-15 at the Whitworth Invitational and Husky Classic.
