SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga Men's Cross Country and Track Head Coach Pat Tyson announced the signing of Noah McMahan to a National Letter of Intent on Thursday. McMahan signs with Gonzaga amidst an impressive senior track season with Incline High School. His latest feat for the Highlanders came at the Sac State Classic, where he broke a 14-year school record in the 3200m. During his time at Incline, McMahan has won State Championships in the 800m, 1600m, 3200m, and 4x800m. Off the track, McMahan is a two-time Nevada 2A Cross Country State Champion, winning back-to-back titles his junior and senior seasons after finishing second as a sophomore. He broke the school 5K record on multiple occasions, the latest at NXR Southwest in Mesa, Ariz. last fall. During his dominant senior season, McMahan won six races and placed in the top four in three others. He also notched a 38th-place finish at the Nike Hole in the Wall XC Invitational on the way to defending his state title.
"I picked Gonzaga because it felt like the right fit," McMahan said. "The team was so inviting, and it just felt like the right place for me and it was somewhere I wanted to spend the next four years."
Tyson on McMahan: "Noah is going to thrive in 'Zagland'. He's extremely motivated and he tells me Gonzaga is his dream school. We are excited to help Noah achieve his goals and help GU XC/TF continue to be a highly successful distance-running program."
