
Track: Armbruster’s 800m Record Highlights Zags at Buc Scoring Invite

Gonzaga set 30 total PRs program-wide at the two-day event
SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga men's and women's track returned to Whitworth for the second-straight week to open the outdoor season for the Buc Scoring Invite on Thursday and Friday. As a program, the men and women combined for 30 new personal-best times while six etched new top ten times, led by Ellie Armbruster's 800m record on Friday.

The men hit the track Thursday for the 5000m race, as Evan Bates (14:36.26), Paul Talens (14:46.68), and Sean Janecko (14:58.26) each recorded PRs to open the meet.

On Friday, the women were the first to run for GU as they took to the 1500m. Anna Grabowski (4:30.28) recorded the new eighth-fastest time and Lucy Klebeck (4:31.19) recorded the tenth-fastest time to join Brittney Hansen (Sam Adams Classic) as the newest members on the 1500m list this spring.

On the men's side, Jacob Alfonso (3:49.97) led the Zags as one of seven new PRs in the event. Nick Braz (3:51.43), Bryce Cerkowniak (3:52.12), Aidan Baughan (3:55.13), Will Thorsett (3:55.23), Mason Kissell (3:55.23), and Drew Kolodge (3:58.96) each improved their 1500m times.

In the 800m, the two squads combined for four new top ten times, with Armbruster's 2:08.97 the new top time for the women. Although not a PR, Bailee Carr's 2:12.15 entered the list at number four. For the men, Sam Geiger (1:51.59) and Carp Mukai (1:52.46) recorded new top ten times, with Geiger entering the list for the first time at third and Mukai moving up to ninth.
