
Stocker Ties for 21st at WCC Championships

Zags place eighth as a team to end season
BREMERTON, Wash. – Gonzaga men's golf placed eighth at the WCC Championships on the Gold Mountain-Olympic Golf Course Saturday.
Zach Stocker led the Bulldogs, tying for 21st place at four-over (220). He carded a 72 (even), 76 (+4), 72 (even) in his three rounds. Stocker made 15 birdies, which tied for second-most among all golfers. On the course's Par-3 holes, he was one-under (2.92).
As a team, the Zags finished the WCC Championships tied for eighth place at 20-over (884). They totaled a 292 (+4) in their second round, their best round of the tournament.
Jace Minni tied for 27th at six-over (222). Minni totaled 34 pars on the tournament. Both Guillermo Polo Bodart and Clayton Thatcher tied for 29th at seven-over (223). Ethan Flynn placed 41st at 16-over (232).
A playoff between defending medalist Riley Lewis of LMU and BYU's Zac Jones went in favor of Jones on the first hole. Jones' 54-hole score was nine-under 207 (69, 66, 72) – one shot lower than teammate Max Brenchley and San Francisco's Matthew Anderson. Jones became the first BYU golfer to medal at the WCC Championship in six years.
BYU took home the conference team title at 21-under (843), holding off San Francisco at 20-under (844). BYU has now won three WCC Championships, including the Cougars' program first WCC title in 2014.
