Paul Talens Named WCC Runner of the Week

SAN MATEO, Calif. — Following a strong performance in his first outdoor race as an attached runner, Gonzaga's Paul Talens was named West Coast Conference Runner of the Week, continuing the streak of each runner of the week coming from a different school through six weeks.

In his first collegiate race in a Gonzaga uniform, Talens — a redshirt freshman — finished with a personal-best 8K time of 25:00 in the Inland Empire Classic in Lewiston, Idaho, on Saturday. He placed seventh overall in the meet, leading a contingent of six Zags that finished in the top-20. Gonzaga placed second out of seven teams in Saturday's meet.
