Six Zags crack the Top 60 individuals
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Gonzaga women's cross country raced to a seventh-place finish as a team at the Roy Griak Invitational 6K against some of the nation's top squads on Friday, led by a 14th-place individual finish by Kristen Garcia and six Zags that placed in the top 60.
GU's 179 points put them ahead of Portland State, Wyoming, South Dakota State, UC San Diego, Santa Clara, North Dakota State, South Dakota, Milwaukee, Nevada, North Dakota, St. Thomas, Illinois-Chicago, Grand Canyon and Pepperdine in the team column. Minnesota took home the overall team title with four finishers in the top ten.
Behind Garcia's 21:29.2 time, Elisabeth Danis was the Zags' next-fastest finisher at 30th place, clocking in at 22:02.8, and Sadie Tuckwood (37th, 22:11.2), Alicia Anderson (47th, 22:20.6), Rosina Machu (51st, 22:25.1), Liz Hogan (60th, 22:37.5) and Makenna Edwards (73, 22:56.4) rounded out the rest of GU's point-getters.
