Stewart Adds Western Oregon Transfer Jillian Greene

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's cross country and track Head Coach Jake Stewart announced the signing of Jillian Greene Friday.

Greene joins the Bulldogs after spending her freshman season at Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Ore. She had a standout high school career at Wilsonville High School. Greene excelled during the indoor season at WOU, running in five meets, highlighted by three Top-10 finishes at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. She ran a personal best 5:10.69 in the mile at the championships.
During the indoor season, Greene ran an indoor 800-meter record of 2:17.03 at the Seattle Pacific Final Qualifier. The Wilsonville, Ore., native, ran a PR 4:54.92 in the 1,500 meters in her lone outdoor meet in March.
At Wilsonville High School, Greene ran a personal record in the 800 meters at 2:19.99 during her senior year. She placed sixth in the 800 meters at the state championships as a senior, after finishing eighth in the 400 meters as a junior.
"We're excited to have the chance to add someone like Jillian Greene to the program this late in the game," Stewart said. "We feel like she's got a lot of good running in front of her, a wide range ability on the track and work ethic that will fit right into our program. A high-level achiever academically, Jillian will be someone who helps this program in every facet and we're excited to begin working with her."
