
Piercy Runs Second-Fastest Steeplechase in Program History

McPhee finishes with third-best 1,500-meter time
CORVALLIS, Ore. — Gonzaga's Aimee Piercy ran the second-fastest 3,000-meter steeplechase time in women's program history at the Oregon State High Performance Meet Friday.
Piercy crossed the line at 10:44.39, placing fourth in the event, but besting her previous personal record of 10:51.03. She set that mark last week at the Cardinal Classic and it was the third-best time in GU history. Shelby Mills owns the program record, 9:56.17, set in 2016.
In the women's 1,500 meters, Jordan McPhee hung around the front of her section, before placing second at 4:35.61. Her finish ranks third all-time at Gonzaga. She ran a 4:37.10 at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival earlier this season, and that mark was seventh in program history.
Ally Legard climbed from No. 9 to No. 7 in the GU all-time rankings Friday. Her time of 4:36.31, was better than her previous personal record of 4:38.28, set earlier this season at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival. Erin Boyle ran a personal best of 4:55.86 in her section of the 1,500 meters.
Claire Manley placed fifth in her section of the women's 5,000 meters with a time of 16:58.45. Jenna Rogers ran a new PR of 17:37.67. Lauren Haas crushed her personal record with a time of 18:01.49 in her section of the 5,000. Her previous PR was 18:39.00.
Monica Ripple closed the night for the Zags with a 37:04.66 finish in the 10,000 meters. She placed fourth in the race.
The Gonzaga men have a quartet running the 4xMile at the Penn Relays Saturday. The Zags run at 1:10 p.m. Pacific Time. Live results will be available on GoZags.com.
