Get to know Men's Rowing senior Daniel Li
The SAAC Student-Athlete Spotlight is a weekly series that will highlight and promote senior Zag student-athletes on and off the playing field. This week's student athlete is Daniel Li from Men's Rowing.
Daniel is a Human Physiology major with a minor in Psychology and has been named to the Dean's list.
We caught up with the senior from San Francisco, California to gain some insight on his experience as a student-athlete at Gonzaga.
What are you hoping to do with your degree post-graduation?
Physical therapy school, possibly acupuncture too.
Favorite musical artist?
YG.
Favorite food?
Sushi.
Favorite sports-related movie?
Incredibles.
Favorite community service event at Gonzaga?
Big fan of Trunk or Treat because you get to put a smile on the kids' faces.
What do you like most about being a student-athlete at Gonzaga?
The supportive and friendly community and everyone in Student-Athlete Support Services.
A weird fact about you that people may not know:
I played piano for 11 years.
How has being an athlete helped you in the classroom?
Discipline. I do better when I have a full plate so 20 hour weeks on top of a science-based major really created a sink or swim environment where I haven't sunk yet!
What would you say is the hardest part of your sport?
Early mornings.
What is the biggest challenge as a student-athlete?
Time management.
Why is community service important to your role as a student-athlete at Gonzaga?
Regardless of where you go to school or whether or not you're a student-athlete, I think cultivating a generous and compassionate disposition is essential if you want to live a fulfilling/consequential life. Community service is the perfect way to go about that.
What advice do you have for prospective Gonzaga student-athletes?
Don't hesitate to ask for help and support!
