
DuBois and Ganz Represent Men's Golf in Summer Play

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Ben DuBois and David Ganz of Gonzaga men's golf have played in a few events this summer around the Northwest.
DuBois and Ganz both competed in the Pacific Northwest Golf Association's Amateur Championship from July 18-23. The 115th annual PNGA Amateur Championship was held at the Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla, Wash.
The championship began with a full field of 168 players, 64 of whom advanced to the single-elimination match-play bracket after two rounds of stroke-play qualifying. Each match was then contested over 18 holes, with the final match being played over 36 holes.
Both DuBois and Ganz advanced to match-play in the tournament. DuBois finished the opening two rounds at one-under (143) tied for 25th. Ganz was two-over (146) after back-to-back rounds of 73. He was tied for 51st.
Seeded 31st in bracket play, DuBois fell to 34th-seeded Michael Butler, 7 and 5. Ganz upset 11th-seed Kaleb Gorbahn as the 54th-seed, 3 and 2. Ganz lost in the second round to 22nd-seed Conner Barr, 5 and 4.
The Pacific Northwest Men's Amateur is one of the oldest championships in the world, and its past champions include Tiger Woods, Jeff Quinney, Ben Crane, Jeff Coston, Nick Flanagan, Jim McLean and Pacific Northwest Golf Hall of Famers Chandler Egan, Harry Givan, Jack Westland, Bud Ward and George Holland, among many others.
The Pacific Northwest Men's Amateur Championship is one of 15 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors, and seniors conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest.
DuBois also played in the Rosauers Open amateur tournament in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on July 15-17. He placed 14th at six-under (210). DuBois eagled the 521-yard par-five 15th hole in the second and third rounds. He opened the event with a 71 (-1), carded a 70 (-2) in Round 2, and finished with a 69 (-3) in the final round.
A few Zags will compete in the PNGA Northwest Open at the Wine Valley Golf Club on Aug. 15-17. The tournament is a 54-hole stroke play championship.
