SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Gonzaga men's rowing team fell in a dual at Oregon State on Saturday at Vancouver Lake in Vancouver, Wash.
The Beavers were able to defeat Gonzaga across each of four eight-man boats on the day, but the Bulldogs hung tough in each one in pushing OSU to the finish line.
"OSU has a good team top to bottom and that showed today. I felt we raced hard and were more consistent than we have been but we still have work to do."
In the Varsity 8, the Zags turned in a time of 6:45.6, just over 13 seconds behind Oregon State's 6:32.3. The JV8 had a similar result with a time of 6:44.5 compared to a 6:29.6.
In the Third Varsity 8, Gonzaga turned in a time of 7:09.0, 16 seconds behind OSU, while the Freshman 8 had a time of 7:14.2 in third-place behind a pair of OSU frosh squads.
Gonzaga will be back on the water next weekend in a scrimmage against the University of Washington on April 30.
