Rowing Takes on Oregon State at Silver Lake Sunday

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga men's and women's rowing team will face their counterparts from Oregon State on Sunday morning beginning at 9 a.m. at Silver Lake, Wash.
Action will start at 9 a.m. on the lake with the men's Varsity 8+ boats with subsequent races going off in 10-minute intervals following. The men's side will feature four 8+ boats, while the women's side will have three 8+ boats and two 4+ boats.
The Gonzaga men are coming off a second-place finish in San Diego last weekend in races against the University of San Diego and UC-San Diego. The Varsity 8+ squad turned in a 2,000-meter time of 6:22.1, just 1.4 seconds behind USD.
"Oregon State is always a race we look forward to," men's head coach Dan Gehn said. "I think they will be tough this year. They beat UVIC handily several weeks ago so I know they have good speed down the line. This is early for us so we will look to add to our race experience for later in the season."
On the women's side, head coach Glenn Putyrae's squad turned in a winning performance at UC-Davis. The Varsity 8+ boat had a 33-second win with a time of 6:40.47.
The Boats will launch from Silver Lake Bible Camp, located just outside of Medical Lake, Wash. That location is near the finish line as well. Directions are at the bottom of this release.

Heading East on I-90:
· Going east on I-90 take exit 264. This is the first Medical Lake exit traveling east.
· Turn left and cross over the freeway. Follow this road going 5-6 miles going past Lakeland Village Hospital and into Medical Lake.
· As you come into Medical Lake, there is a ball field on the right. At the end of the ball field is Campbell Street - turn right.
· Once on Campbell go to the stop sign, turn right on to Hallett. Follow Hallett, which becomes South Medical Lake.
· Follow this about 1.5 miles, at "Y" stay to the left.
· Cross over the cattle guards and follow road, staying to the left at the next "Y" to the Camp.
Heading West on I-90:
· Traveling east on I-90 take Exit #272, Cheney/Medical Lake
· Turn Right at stop sign onto WA-902 - go 6.0 mi
· At Conoco Gas station Turn left on Stanley
· Turn right on Lake St. and go one Block
· Turn Left on Hallett and follow for 1.2 mi.
· Bear left on S Lakehurst Dr. (at cattle guard)- go 0.6 mi
· Stay to the Left at the next "Y" and camp is on the right
