SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga men's rowing team will wrap up its fall season at the annual Head of the Snake on the Snake River west of Pullman, Wash., on Saturday at 9 a.m.
The Zags will take on Washington State and Western Washington. So far this season, GU has defeated both schools each time they've faced off. The three schools competed head-to-head last weekend at the Head of the Lake in Seattle, with Gonzaga completing the 4,800-meter course nearly four seconds ahead of WSU and more than a minute ahead of WWU in the Varsity 8+ boat.
"We are looking forward to finishing off strong with our last race of the fall schedule," head coach Dan Gehn said.
At the Head of the Snake, the teams will compete on a 5,000-meter course starting at the Pullman/Boathouse shore east of Wawawai Landing and finish at the landing's boathouse.
The Zags have also defeated Washington State on two previous occasions this fall, both on Spokane River. GU defeated the Cougars by 1.9 seconds in a dual three weeks ago, then by 12 seconds in front of a big alumni crowd at the Head of the Spokane two weeks ago.
