Edwards And Peek Tabbed All-WCC Honorable Mention

SAN BRUNO, Wash. - Gonzaga University sophomores Katie Edwards and Kylie Peek both took home All-West Coast Conference honorable mention accolades the league announced Wednesday. Edwards and Peek were recognized as honorable mention for their doubles play and Edwards received the honor for singles as well.
This is Edwards second consecutive honorable mention accolades for doubles play. Last year with former Bulldog Kristina Zauere, the duo were given the same honor. The singles honorable mention marks the first for Edwards who played in the No. 1 position for the Zags. The doubles accolade is the first for Peek.
In singles play, Edwards faced the gauntlet of the WCC's best. She wrapped up the spring season with a 6-13 record from the top spot. All of her victories came in straight sets including wins over Portland State University's Daria Burobina, University of Montana's Heather Davidson and University of Northern Colorado's Jennifer Buchannan.
As a duo, Edwards and Peek excelled as a team. The two went 8-7 overall from the No. 1 doubles position. As a pair they won three straight matches over Seattle University, Eastern Washington and Northern Colorado early in the season. They also won WCC contests over University of San Francisco and Loyola Marymount University.
The 2013 All-Conference teams were selected based on overall season performance, including play at the recent WCC Championship. A full list of All-WCC First and Second Team members in singles and doubles, including honorable mention can be found below.
