WCC Journey Continues For Women's Tennis

SPOKANE, Wash. - Winners in seven of their last nine matches, Gonzaga University women's tennis (9-5, 0-3 West Coast Conference) is prepared for three matches in the next four days. Wednesday, the University of Montana comes to the Spokane Racquet Club for a 3 p.m. contest. The Bulldogs will have a day off before hitting the road for matches against Pepperdine University and Loyola Marymount University Friday and Saturday.
YOUTH PREVAILING: Gonzaga University women's tennis team has seen a number of freshmen producing on the court in 2013. Freshmen Isabell Klingert, Franziska Koehler, Samantha Polayes and Melanie Yates are a combined 31-14 during the spring season. Polayes is 11-2 overall, Koehler is 8-2, Yates is 5-3 and Klingert is 7-7. Together the freshman class has accounted for 65 percent of the Bulldogs wins.
STREAKING: Entering the week, Gonzaga University women's tennis has two winning-streaks of note. In singles, Franziska Koehler is a winner of five straight matches. Koehler is a perfect 7-0 playing in the No. 6 position this spring. In doubles play, Samantha Polayes and Melanie Yates have won four straight as the No. 2 team. The duo is 6-3 overall together.
