Women's Tennis Drops To Idaho 5-2

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University women's tennis took a break from West Coast Conference play to host the University of Idaho Wednesday night at the Spokane Racquet Center, however the Vandals would down the Bulldogs 5-2.
The defeat moves the Zags even on the season at 9-9.
Gonzaga won three matches on the night, two singles and one doubles.
The doubles victory came from the duo of Katie Edwards and Alexandra Tallas who cruised over Constance Alexander and Alejandra Lozano 8-3. This was the first pairing of the two this spring and their win came in the No. 2 position.
In singles, it was Franziska Koehler and Melanie Yates who prevailed. Koehler, playing as the No. 5, took the first set 6-2 over Rita Bermudez and was granted the victory when Bermudez retired in the second set. Koehler won her 10th match of the season and is 7-3 in her last 10.
Yates won her sixth match of the season in the No. 6 position as she dropped Alejandra Lozano 7-5, 7-6 (3).
Gonzaga now shifts its attention to its last three matches of the season. Saturday the Bulldogs will be in Provo, Utah, for a battle with BYU at noon.
