Lindsey Drake And Emily Thomas Impress At Husky Classic

SEATTLE, Wash. - Lindsey Drake set the school record in the 3,000 meter race and Emily Thomas set the 5,000 meter record for Gonzaga University Indoor Track at the Husky Classic in Seattle.
"We saw what we were looking for this weekend," assistant coach Patty Ley said. "We had some breakthroughs and some risks paid off. We ran pretty hard all day and it was a good day. I am happy with our progressions."
Drake ran a 9:39.82 in the open and finished ninth in her heat. Also running the 3,000 meter was Krista Beyer and Lauren Bergam who finished with times of 10:11.76 and 10:19.55, respectively. Beyer's time was her fastest of the year by more than 24 seconds.
Thomas was the first Zag to run officially in the 5,000 meter race at an indoor event for the program. Her time of 17:15.33 placed her 52nd overall.
Andy Phillips and Joe LaMontagne both ran in the 800 meter race for the Bulldogs and ran two of the three fastest times in program history. Phillips, who owns the fastest time in program history, is now second fastest all-time with his 1:54.15 from today. LaMontagne sits third after running 1:54.20.
Robert Walgren competed in the 3,000 meter race and finsihed in 8:20.53. Walgren, who owns the fastest time, set the second best time in program history. Nick Roche also ran the 3,000 and finsihed in 8:30.10.
Senior Andrew Walker competed in the 5,000 meter. He finished with a time of 15:14.17.
Indoor track is back in action Feb. 15 when they travel to Moscow, Idaho, for the Idaho Indoor.
