Polayes Eliminated At USTA ITA Northwest Regionals

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Samantha Polayes' bid at the 2013 USTA ITA Northwest Regionals came to an end Thursday as she was eliminated in the round of 32 at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium on the Stanford University campus.
Friday, Polayes captured two victories to move from the round of 128 to the round of 32. Unfortunately, she would fall in a nail biter, 6-3, 7-5, to 13th seed Denise Starr (Cal). Although she was eliminated from the main draw, her weekend will continue Sunday with a consolation match.
Kylie Peek had a consolation match Saturday after suffering a round of 64 defeat Friday. She was victorious over Anne Susdorf (Fresno State University) 6-3, 6-3. Peek will also have a consolation contest Sunday.
Polayes and Peek had their hopes in the doubles dashed as well. The duo was eliminated in the round of 32 by second seed Kristie Ahn and Carol Zhao (Stanford) 8-3. They will also have a doubles consolation match on Sunday.
The USTA ITA Northwest Regionals is the last fall tournament for the Zags. The main draw winners of both singles and doubles will be crowned Tuesday.
