Four Rowers Invited To National Team Freshman Camp

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University freshman women's crew members Elizabeth Braicks, Teddi McGuire, Elise Perkins and Chelsea Quilling are four of 40 rowers that have been invited to the 2009 Women's National Team Freshman Camp.
The camp will be held at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. Due to an extremely strong applicant pool, there are two sessions this year; first session runs from June 14-20, the second session runs from June 21-27. The team will be coach by Cornell Varsity head coach Hilary Gehman.
Braicks, McGuire, Perkins and Quilling, four of the 20 rowers set to participate in the second session June 21-27, were all members of the Novice 8+ crew that placed eighth at the Pacific-10 Championships and claimed gold at the WIRA Championships.
"This camp is a great opportunity for these athletes to experience rowing in a new and competitive environment," stated novice coach Courtney Haase. "My hope is that they use this opportunity to realize the talent that exists on the collegiate level, and what it will take to compete and be successful on the national stage."
