Mehndiratta Wins At No. 1 Singles, Zags Fall To SCU

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Sophomore Rika Mehndiratta posted a win at No. 1 singles in Gonzaga University's women's tennis match at Santa Clara University Saturday afternoon. SCU held off a series of well played matches by the Bulldogs to record a 6-1West Coast Conference win.
Santa Clara earned the doubles point and then came out on the winning end of five of the six singles matches. Mehndiratta beat SCU's Stephanie Galainena 6-2, 6-2 to record her ninth win of the season. Freshman Kristina Zauere lost a tough match at No. 3 singles 6-4, 7-6 as did sophomore Clare Dodge who came up just short in her No. 5 singles match. Freshman Madeleine Edson-White also came up just short after forcing her No. 6 singles match to go three sets.
The Zags continue their bay area road trip Sunday at the University of San Francisco.
