Zags Tied For 20th In USRowing Collegiate Top 20

SPOKANE, Wash.- The Gonzaga University men's rowing Varsity 8+ boat is currently tied for 20th in the latest USRowing Collegiate Top 20. The Bulldogs, who cracked the Top 20 for the first time in school history a season ago, received 40 votes to tie for 20th with Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the first poll of the season.
The Zags earned their spot in the Top 20 after having a solid weekend at the Pac-10 Challenge. Gonzaga won two out of its three races; defeating Santa Clara University and UCLA. GU's only loss on the weekend was to Northeastern University, who is ranked sixth in the poll.
The University of Washington earned eight of 19 first-place votes to take the top spot in the first poll. Wisconsin received nine first-place votes, but ranked second. The University of California, Brown University and Stanford rounded out the top five. Cal and Brown each received one first-place vote.
