SALEM, Ore. - Baraka Poulin and Eric Mendoza ran their first 10,000 meters of the outdoor track season for Gonzaga University on Friday at the Willamette Invitational, Poulin taking 13th and Mendoza 15th.
Poulin, running his first career 10,000, finished in 33:31.76 while Mendoza, running his first 10,000 since the 2005 Willamette Invitational, finished in 34:03.10. Rob Schlegel of the University of Portland, running unattached, won in 32:02.27.
The Bulldogs had a pair of men in the 1500 meters in Noah Stout and Ken Santman. Stout finished seventh in Section 2 in a season-best 4:15.07 that was good for 46th overall, while Santman was 10th in Section 3 in a career best 4:05.37 good for 31st overall.
In Friday night's late event, Colby Litzenberger won Section 2 of the men's 5000 meters in a career best 14:57.39, his first sub-15 minute time, that was good for 11th overall.
Amanda Gillman was 27th in Section 1 of the women's 5000 meters in 23:05.68 that placed her 55th overall.
The two-day meet concludes Saturday.
