SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's varsity crew team travels to California this weekend to partake in the 5th annual Windermere Real Estate Rowing Classic hosted by Stanford University. The Windermere Real Estate Rowing Classic is an invitational rowing regatta held at Redwood Shores Lagoon, in Redwood City, California. Redwood Shores Lagoon is considered the finest two lane `match race' racing venue in the world. The two-day regatta takes place on Saturday April 14 through Sunday, April 15. The regatta features a series of races between seven men's teams.
The Bulldogs first race of the weekend is scheduled for 12:18 p.m. on Saturday against UC Davis; Gonzaga's longtime rival. The Zags will then hit the water at 6:12 p.m. against the University of Washington's freshman A squad. Last year the Huskies novice 8+ won the IRA's.
Gonzaga will wrap up its weekend at the classic with a race against Oregon State University on Sunday at 11:24 a.m. Oregon State is currently ranked 19th in the latest USRowing Collegiate Top-20 Poll.
"This should prove to be another excellent weekend of competition especially after racing three ranked crews last weekend on the East Coast," stated head coach Dan Gehn.
