CHENEY, Wash. - Gonzaga University senior runner Jill Semenza was the top Bulldogs finisher as the men's and women's teams competed in the 35th annual Pelluer Invitational hosted by Eastern Washington University.
Semenza was in a tightly contested finish in the 1,500 meter run as Karen DeMartini of Washington State won in a time of 4:47.00. Caitlin Prunty of EWU was second at 4:49.93 just edging Semenza's time of 4:50.84. Jamie Schiel was 10th and Debra Emery 17th in the event.
Eric Mendoza was the Bulldogs top men's finisher in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:39.65 to place 9th. Colby Litzenberger and Gabe Hayden crossed in 12th and 13th position while Ken Santman closed out the GU runners in the event with a 17th place finish.
Baraka Poulin entered as the lone GU men's runner in the 1,500 meter run finishing in 9th place with a time of 4:11.98.
In the women's 5,000 meter run Nellie Ballou and Emily Buck finished 7th and 8th with Ballou posting a time of 19:33.51. Lindsay Hallvik placed 11th while Martha Dobson and Amanda Gillman were 13th and 14th.
