Buck, Schiel Grab Seconds At Whitworth

SPOKANE, Wash. - Emily Buck and Jamie Schiel finished second in their respective races as Gonzaga University sent a small delegation of participants to the Sam Adams Classic at Whitworth College on Saturday.

Buck finished second in the women's 800 meters in 2:22.34, Camille Gibb of Eastern Washington University winning the event in 2:20.91.

Schiel took second in the women's 1,500 meters in 5:03.69, two seconds behind Andrea Carnahan of the host Pirates who finished in 5:01.69.

Libby Brands was sixth in the women's 5,000 meters in 21:26.97.

Eric Mendoza and Ken Santman both competed in the men's 1,500 meters. Mendoza finished fifth in 4:11.36 while Santman was seventh in 4:14.99.
