Men's Crew Lands Two Boats In IRA National Championships

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University men's crew has landed two boats in the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships held June 2-4 in Camden, N.J. The Bulldogs will enter boats in the men's varsity 4+ and men's freshmen 4+ with racing action beginning on Thursday morning. Last year Gonzaga's varsity 4+ finished 9th in the nation at the IRA championships while the Bulldogs freshmen 4+ was 15th.
The varsity 4+ will hit the water at 10:36 a.m. (EST) racing in the third of four heats. Also entered in Gonzaga's heat are UCLA, University of Wisconsin, Harvard University, University of Minnesota and Dartmouth College. The winner of each heat advances to Friday's semifinals while the other five boats will compete in Thursday afternoon's repechages to determine the semifinal boats. Gonzaga's varsity 4+ will consist of coxswain Erin Palmiter (JR - Kalispell, MT), stroke Connor Barry (JR - Walla Walla, WA), Pat Haffey (SR - Spokane, WA), Nathan Wilson (SR - Post Falls, ID) and bow Matthew Wernette (SO - Lodi, CA).
The freshmen 4+ will race at 11 a.m. (EST) in the first of four heats. Also entered in Gonzaga's heat are Colgate University, Georgetown University, Saint Joseph's University, George Washington University and University of Wisconsin. The winner of each heat advances to Friday's semifinals while the other five boats will compete in Thursday afternoon's repechages to determine the semifinal boats. Gonzaga's freshmen 4+ will consist of coxswain Joan Aubry (FR - Olympia, WA), stroke Joe Dudley (FR - San Francisco, CA), Warren North (FR - Seattle, WA) , Brett Boissevain (FR - Boulder, CO) and bow Scott McCoy (FR - Fair Oaks, CA).
