Women's Varsity Crew Competes In Knecht Cup

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's varsity crew will travel across the country to compete in this weekend's Knecht Cup at Cooper River in Camden, N.J. The annual event hosted by Villanova University involves some of the top crews from the East Coast along with selected other crews from across the United States. Gonzaga will compete in first heat race of the morning against the University of Massachusetts, University of Buffalo, University of New Hampshire and Lehigh University. The top three boats in each of the four morning heats along with three next fastest boats will advance to the Saturday afternoon semifinals.
The Grand Final, Petite Final and Third Final will take place on Sunday morning at the 2,000 meter course. This will be Gonzaga's first appearance at the Knecht Cup which was won by Massachusetts last year. Gonzaga varsity 8+ will include coxswain Erin Palmiter, stroke Kari Durgan, Karen O'Hagan, Cory Nelson, Jessica Kocarnik, Stephanie Murphy, Courtney Haia, Sarah Allison and bow Nicole Aadland-Lewis. This will be the final race for the Bulldogs prior to defending their West Coast Conference championship on April 29 in Sacramento, Calif.
