Crew Opens Racing Season This Weekend At Home

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's and women's crew will open the 2005 racing season at home this weekend with the men racing on Friday and Saturday and the women competing on Saturday only. All events will take place at the Silver Lake course in Medical Lake, just outside of Spokane.
The men's team will open competition at 9 a.m. on Friday morning with a race against Orange Coast College. Racing will then continue on Saturday morning with a regatta including Gonzaga, OCC, the University of British Columbia and Washington State University. Saturday mornings events will start at approximately 8:30 a.m. with several races during the day.
The women's team will only face British Columbia on Saturday morning with women's events starting 10-minutes following each men's race.
Friday's men's line-ups will consist of coxswain Lauren Gadeken, stroke Connor Barry, Patrick Haffey, Matthew Wernette, Nathan Wilson, Ben Foley, Derek Clemmensen, Joe Dudley and bow David Hinshaw in the Varsity 8+. Coxswain Dana Skoog, stroke Scott McCoy, Warren North, Ben Rosenblatt, Mike Smoot, Justin Bayley, Brett Boissevain, Drew Smith and bow Drew Hastings will race in the Novice 8+.
On Saturday the Varsity 8+ will consist of the same rowers with coxswain Elaine Parry. The JV 8+ will be made up of coxswain Meghan Quinn, stroke Connor Barry, David Hinshaw, Matthew White, Jeb Berg, Robert Holland, Sean Haase, Justin Quilliam and bow Chris Pay. The Novice 8+ will include coxswain Dana Skoog, stroke Joe Dudley, Warren North, Scott McCoy, Michael Smoot, Ben Rosenblatt, Brett Boissevain, Justin Bayley and bow Drew Hastings.
The women's line-ups will consist of coxswain Erin Palmiter, stroke Kari Durgan, Karen O'Hagan, Cory Nelson, Jessica Kocarnik, Jenni Cooper, Stephanie Murphy, Nicole Aadland-Lewis and bow Sarah Allison in the Varsity 8+. Coxswain Joan Aubry, stroke Whitney Patrick, Carolyn Schepper, Teresa Archuleta, Heather Jewell, Courtney Haia, Cherami Cadwell, Mariah Smith-Miloff and bow Kelsey Koenig in the JV 8+. Gonzaga's Novice 8+ will have coxswain Sarah Kwak, stroke Whitney Patrick, Julie Smetana, Cory Nelson, Stephanie Murphy, Courtney Haia, Cherami Cadwell, Kelsey Koenig and bow Kathryn Kocarnik. The Bulldogs final boat includes coxswain Melissa Refuerzo, stroke Liz Sambach, Brittany Price, Sara Amatuzio, Kelsey Rapp, Grace Wallace, Jessica Uphoff, Jennifer Pierce and bow Michelle McMullen in the Third Varsity 8+.
