Bulldogs Conclude Play at GU/EWU Tournament

CHENEY, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team concluded play at the Gonzaga/Eastern Washington University Tournament Saturday afternoon.

Amanda Becker was defeated in the semifinals round of the singles maindraw by the University of Idaho's Mariel Tinnirello. Becker jumped out to the early lead winning first set 6-1, but Tinnirello battled back in the second set defeating Becker 6-3. The two then engaged in a battle for the third and deciding set with Tinnirello coming out on top 7-6 (8-4).

GU's final competitor on the day was Katie Colton who was playing in the semifinals round of the singles backdraw. Colton was defeated in straight sets by Easter Washington's Marie Carroll, 6-3, 6-4.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Friday as they head to the ITA Regionals in Palo Alto, Calif.
