Lewiston, Idaho - The Lewis-Clark State College Warriors defeated the Gonzaga University women's tennis team 4-3 Saturday in Lewiston, Idaho.
The Warriors claimed the doubles point as the No. 1 duo of Aibika Kalsarieva and Khaliun Enkhjargal defeated Jamie Buterbaugh and Kendall Bates 8-6. LCSC's Pei Yuin Keng and Jinnie Shrestha went on to defeat the Bulldog pair of Katie Rock and Sirrah Williams at the No. 2 spot. Aaryn Volkmann and Connie Head won the third doubles match 8-1, defeating Ana Cornea and Daniella Poeschl.
The two teams split singles action as the Warriors claimed the two top matches when Kalsarieva defeated Buterbaugh 6-1, 6-0 at No.1 and Keng downed Bates 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2.
Volkmann defeated Enkhjargal 6-3, 6-0 at the No.3 spot while Rock collected the No. 4 singles win 6-3, 6-4.
Williams forced three sets before falling to Shrestha 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 at No.5. Leigh Orne claimed the No. 6 match for Gonzaga as she defeated Poeschl 6-2, 6-4.
Gonzaga heads to California for spring break as they open a five-match swing Tuesday, March 11 at Cal-state Fullerton at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs will then play UC-Riverside, Loyola Marmount, San Francisco and Cal State Northridge during the week.
