Women's Crew Wraps Up Home Schedule In Fawley Cup

SPOKANE, Wash. - Under consistent drizzle and high tail winds Saturday morning the Gonzaga University crew team hosted the Washington State Cougars for the Fawley Cup, the last home regatta of the season at Silver Lake outside of Spokane.
The Gonzaga men's team swept all four races against Washington State. The men's varsity eight started the day winning by sixteen seconds while the junior varsity eight defeated the Cougars by a six-second cushion. Both of the men's varsity eight "A" and "B" races finished with both of GU's boats at the top.
The Cougar women won five-of-six races until the Bulldogs varsity four boat edged WSU by .02 of a second to win the last women's race of the day. The Bulldogs placed second in the women's varsity four "B" race as they beat the Cougars second boat by 16 seconds.
Gonzaga continues the spring season on the road April 5, when the men's and women's junior varsity and novice teams compete at the Willamette Invitational. The varsity teams will have a dual meet at the San Diego Crew Classic April 6.
